"Public's Favourite 2002 Stamp Election" in Mainland
The 5th Anniversary of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region"
Commemorative Stamps issued by Hongkong Post, is named the "Public's
Favourite Hong Kong Stamp Issue" in the Election.
The Election was jointly organised by the Centre of International
Cultural Exchange, which is established under the Ministry of Culture
of the People's Republic of China, China Philately Online (www.jiyou.net)
and China Philately News, and co-organised by Hongkong Post, Macau
Post and Beijing Post's Postal Weekly-Philately Information. Votes
were solicited via the China Philately News, Postal Weekly-Philately
Information and the internet (www.jiyou.net
and seechina.com.cn)
from 18 February to 10 March 2003. Approximately 70,000 votes were
received within and outside of China, which include prominent Chinese
philatelists.
Hongkong Post took part in the same election in 2000 and 2001 with
"Hong Kong Insects" Special Stamps and Souvenir Sheet
and "In Commemoration of Beijing's Successful Bid for Hosting
the 2008 Olympic Games" Mini-pane winning the title in 2000
and 2001 respectively.
