Issue of a Souvenir Cover to Commemorate the One-year-free E-cert
with Smart ID Card
A souvenir cover will be issued on 9 August 2003 (Saturday) to
commemorate the provision of one-year-free e-Cert to the smart ID
cardholders. To encourage the adoption of the e-Cert by the smart
ID cardholders, two popular artists, Miss Miriam YEUNG and Mr. Ekin
CHENG, have been appointed as e-Cert Ambassadors for 2003-2004 to
help raise public awareness and understanding of the e-Cert. This
souvenir cover will be available for sale at all philatelic offices
from 26 July to 9 August 2003. The price of the souvenir cover is
HK$2 each.
All philatelic offices will open on 9 August 2003 as per normal
Saturday opening hours to provide a full range of counter services.
Hand-back service to official and privately-made covers bearing
an indication of the event and a local address will be provided
at all philatelic offices on that day. A special postmark will also
be introduced and available for hand-back service at all philatelic
offices. The "GPO-1" postmark, "Philatelic Bureau"
pictorial postmark and the philatelic office pictorial postmarks
will also be available for hand-back service at all philatelic offices.
The public hall of the Hongkong Post Philatelic Bureau on 1/F.,
Trade Square, 681 Cheung Sha Wan Road, Kowloon, will also open from
9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. for datestamping covers with the "Philatelic
Bureau" pictorial postmark, the "GPO-1" postmark
as well as the special postmark.
A serviced souvenir cover will be given free to customers who have
opted for a one-year-free e-Cert on their smart ID cards at 20 designated
post offices (as stated in the table below) as from 9 August 2003
and at the Hongkong Post service counters of the 9 Smart ID Card
Centres (as stated in the table below) as from 18 August 2003. The
serviced souvenir cover will be affixed with a $1.4 definitive stamp
and cancelled with the special postmark, and will be distributed
until stock lasts.
