HONG KONG 2004 Stamp Expo
HONG KONG 2004 Stamp Expo will be held from 30 January to 3 February
2004 at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre, with the
theme of "Tourism". The Expo is also known as the 17th
Asian International Stamp Exhibition, under the patronage of the
Federation of Inter-Asian Philately (F.I.A.P.).
Six stamp sheetlets are issued to commemorate the Expo. While the
first sheetlet was issued on 8 April 2003 and the second will be
on 14 October 2003 as a run-up to the Expo, Tourism Series No. 3
to 6 with each depicting a different facet of the Expo theme will
also be issued consecutively from the first day of the Expo.
A flip-flop stamp sheetlet will be issued to commemorate the opening
of the Expo on 30 January 2004. To tie in with the Expo theme of
"Tourism", a Hong Kong Attractions stamp sheetlet will
be issued on 3 February 2004.
To commemorate accepting coin and banknote dealers for the first
time at the Expo, a Commemorative Collection of "HONG KONG
2004" Stamp Sheetlet and Banknote will be issued on 30 January
2004. It contains a Tourism Series No.3 and a HK$10 banknote, both
printed with the same prefix and serial number. In addition, a Prestige
Collection of "HONG KONG 2004" Stamp Sheetlets and Banknotes
will be issued on 2 February 2004 which contains full set of Tourism
Series Nos. 1 to 6 and six HK$10 banknotes. Each pair of stamp sheetlet
and HK$10 banknote is printed with the same prefix and serial numbers.
An Expo Catalogue and "Living Earth 3" Folder Pack will
also be issued. The Folder Pack contains stamps on Nature is issued
by Hongkong Post and four other overseas postal administrations,
viz. Canada, Ireland, Sweden and United Nations.
