| Mint stamps |
A set of special stamps on Chinese Percussion Instruments, which
represent one of the treasures of the Chinese culture, will be issued
on 6 November 2003 (Thursday). The stamps depict five Chinese
Percussion Instruments including Drum ($1.40), Clappers ($2.40),
Cymbals ($3.00), Gongs ($5.00) and Chimes ($13.00).

The stamps will be displayed at the General Post Office, Tsim Sha
Tsui Post Office, Tsuen Wan Post Office and Sha Tin Central Post
Office from 16 October 2003. Official first day covers at
HK$1 each will be put on sale at all post offices on the same day.
Advance orders for servicing self-provided souvenir covers will
be accepted at all post offices from 16 to 22 October 2003.

All post offices will open as per normal opening hours on 6
November 2003 to provide a full range of counter services. Hand-back
service will be provided at all post offices for official and privately-made
covers bearing the first day of issue indication and a local address.
A special postmark will be introduced and available for hand-back
service at all post offices. The “GPO-1” postmark, “Philatelic
Bureau” pictorial postmark and the philatelic office pictorial
postmarks will also be available for hand-back service at all philatelic
offices on that day.
In addition, the public hall of the Hongkong Post Philatelic Bureau
on 1/F., Trade Square, 681 Cheung Sha Wan Road, Kowloon, will also
open from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. for datestamping covers with the
“Philatelic Bureau” pictorial postmark, the “GPO-1”
postmark as well as the special postmark on that day.
Information about associated philatelic products released with
this issue and the sales restriction per queuing customer on the
first day of issue on 6 November 2003 and subsequent days
until stock lasts are as follows:
