Issue of Official Souvenir Cover to Commemorate Hongkong Post's
Participation in the China 2003 - 16th Asian International Stamp
Exhibition, Mianyang, Sichuan
To promote stamps of Hong Kong Special Administrative Region to
overseas philatelists, Hongkong Post will participate in the international
stamp exhibition "CHINA 2003 - 16th Asian International Stamp
Exhibition" to be held in Mianyang City, Sichuan province,
China, from 20 to 24 November 2003. The exhibition is jointly
organised by the State Post Bureau of China and the All China Philatelic
Federation with the support from the People's Government of Mianyang,
Sichuan to commemorate 125th Anniversary of the first China stamp.
It is also under the patronage by the Federation of Inter-Asian
Philately.
A souvenir cover will be issued on 20 November 2003 (Thursday)
to commemorate Hongkong Post's participation in the exhibition.
The price of the souvenir cover is HK$2 each. The cover will be
available at 39 philatelic offices from 6 to 20 November 2003
and at the exhibition venue from 20 to 24 November 2003.
A special postmark and cachet will be introduced to commemorate
the event. Hand-back service for the special postmark will be provided
to official and privately-made covers bearing an indication of the
event and a local address at 39 philatelic offices and at the exhibition
venue on 20 November 2003, the opening day of the exhibition.
The "GPO-1" postmark, Philatelic Bureau" pictorial
postmark and the philatelic office pictorial postmarks will also
be available for providing hand-back service at all philatelic offices
on the same day. A cachet will also be available for application
on covers at the exhibition venue and all philatelic offices during
normal office hours throughout the period of the exhibition. In
addition, the public hall of the Hongkong Post Philatelic Bureau
on 1/F., Trade Square, 681 Cheung Sha Wan Road, Kowloon, will also
open from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on 20 November 2003 for
datestamping covers with the "Philatelic Bureau" pictorial
postmark, the "GPO-1" postmark as well as the special
postmark.

For the 2003 Local Standing Order Service customers who have
successfully ordered the "Datestamped Special Souvenir
Cover - For Stamp Exhibitions", the "Official Souvenir
Cover to Commemorate Hongkong Post's Participation in the China
2003 - 16th Asian International Stamp Exhibition, Mianyang,
Sichuan" will be collected together with the "Development
of Public Housing in Hong Kong" stamp products. |
