With the approaching of the Olympic Games this year, a special stamp issue featuring five Olympic sports will be issued on 20 July 2004 (Tuesday). The stamps are produced in sheets of twenty stamps all of the $1.40 denomination. Each sheet consists of five strips of four stamps depicting a sporting event in motion. The five sporting events depicted on the stamps include relay race, highboard diving, volleyball, cycling and badminton. This is the first time that a set of 20 special stamps in a single denomination is issued by Hongkong Post.

Remarks: The above philatelic products have been included in the 2004 Local Standing Order Service.

The stamps will be displayed at the General Post Office, Tsim Sha Tsui Post Office, Tsuen Wan Post Office and Sha Tin Central Post Office from 2 July 2004. Official First Day Cover at HK$1 each will be put on sale at all post offices on the same day. Advance orders for servicing self-provided souvenir covers will be accepted at all post offices from 29 June to 5 July 2004.

Hand-back datestamping service will be provided at all post offices on 20 July 2004 for official and privately-made covers bearing the first day of issue indication and a local address. A special postmark will also be introduced and available for hand-back service at all post offices. The "GPO-1" postmark, "Philatelic Bureau" pictorial postmark and the philatelic office pictorial postmarks will also be available for hand-back datestamping service at 39 philatelic offices on that day.

In addition, the public hall of the Hongkong Post Philatelic Bureau on 1/F., Trade Square, 681 Cheung Sha Wan Road, Kowloon, will also open on 20 July 2004 from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. for datestamping covers with the "Philatelic Bureau" pictorial postmark, the "GPO-1" postmark as well as special postmark on that day.
