on "Centenary of the Birth of Deng Xiaoping"

Mini-pane

Stamp Sheetlet
Once again, Hongkong Post is teaming up with China Post and Macau
Post to excite philatelists! The fourth joint stamp issue with China
Post and Macau Post will be released with the theme of "Centenary
of the Birth of Deng Xiaoping" on 22 August 2004 (Sunday).
Deng Xiaoping, chief architect of China's socialist reforms, open
policy and modernisation drive as well as the principal founder
of the Deng Xiaoping Theory, put forward the ingenious concept of
"One Country, Two Systems". This laid the foundation for
the smooth return of Hong Kong and Macau to the motherland and ensured
their continued stability and prosperity for the years to come.
Hongkong Post will be issuing 2 new commemorative stamps and a
stamp sheetlet on 22 August 2004 (Sunday) in the following
formats for this occasion:-
- Mini-pane carrying 4 sets of 8 stamps in total, each in HK$1.40
(featuring the 2 new commemorative stamps). The stamps are depicted
with images of Deng Xiaoping with the background of the Victoria
Harbour in both the scenes of day and night, setting against backdrops
of the Great Wall and firework respectively.
- Stamp Sheetlet embedded with a HK$10 stamp (featuring a new
design other than the two stamps in the mini-pane). Deng Xiaoping's
life and transformation of Hong Kong are the focus of this stamp
sheetlet.
- Presentation Pack is presented neatly with a set of two commemorative
stamps, each in HK$1.40 and a HK$10 stamp sheetlet together with
valuable images of Deng Xiaoping.
- Datestamped First Day Cover is also available either with a
set of two commemorative stamps or a HK$10 stamp sheetlet. The
First Day Cover features Deng Xiaoping's visit to Sichuan and
is complemented by a Bauhinia flower, the emblem of Hong Kong
and Deng's famous quote - "I am the son of the Chinese people
and I deeply love my people and my country".
- Souvenir Pack, jointly issued by the three postal administrations,
is the easiest way to collect all the stamp products issued by
the three parties, namely:
