Heartwarming Stamps of "Congratulations to the Hong Kong Team on Winning the Silver Medal in the Men's Table Tennis Doubles at the 2004 Olympic Games"

To celebrate the Hong Kong Team's achievement of winning a silver medal in the Men's Table Tennis Doubles at the XXVIII Olympic Games in Athens, a "Heartwarming Stamps" Mini-pane and a Souvenir Cover will be issued on 7 October 2004 (Thursday). This is the first Olympic medal for Hong Kong SAR after re-unification with China.

Information about the "Heartwarming Stamps" Mini-pane and Souvenir Cover and the sales restriction per queuing customer starting from 7 October 2004 are as follows:

  • Only available at 39 philatelic offices and will be sold on the issue date while stock lasts

* With indication of "local mail postage" is valid for sending mail items weighing not more than 30g to local addresses in Hong Kong

Remarks:

  1. The above philatelic products have not been included in the 2004 Local Standing Order Service.
  2. Order forms were sent by post from 16 September 2004 onwards to the 2004 Local Standing Order Service (LSOS) customers who registered before 10 September 2004. LSOS customers can place their orders up to 2 October 2004. The successful order will be available for delivery / collection together with "Fungi" stamp products from 23 November 2004 onwards.

LUCKY DRAW - FOR 2004 LSOS CUSTOMERS

A Lucky Draw will be arranged for LSOS members who registered on or before 10 September 2004. Each LSOS account (per account basis) will be entitled to one Lucky Draw entry for every HK$50 they spend on the "Heartwarming Stamps" Mini-pane and Souvenir Cover by 2 October 2004. In other words, if a member spends HK$118.20 for two sets of the Mini-pane and serviced Souvenir Cover, he or she is entitled to two entries in the Lucky Draw. The more the member spends, the more chances he or she will be able to win. There will be ten winners in the Lucky Draw, and each will be presented with a pair of table tennis paddles autographed by the silver medallists, Mr. LI Ching and Mr. KO Lai-chak. The lucky draw will be conducted on 29 October 2004 and winners will be notified separately by mail.

The stamp products will be displayed at the General Post Office, Tsim Sha Tsui Post Office, Tsuen Wan Post Office and Sha Tin Central Post Office from 30 September 2004. Official Souvenir Cover at HK$1 each will be put on sale at all post offices from 30 September to 7 October 2004. Serviced Souvenir Covers will only be sold at 39 philatelic offices on the issue day while stock lasts. Advance orders for servicing official souvenir cover and self-provided souvenir covers will be accepted at all post offices from 20 to 24 September 2004.

Hand-back datestamping service will be provided at all post offices on 7 October 2004 for official and privately-made covers bearing an indication of the event and a local address. A special postmark will also be introduced and available for hand-back service at all post offices.

The "GPO-1" postmark, "Philatelic Bureau" pictorial postmark and the philatelic office pictorial postmarks will also be available for hand-back datestamping service at 39 philatelic offices on that day.

In addition, the public hall of the Hongkong Post Philatelic Bureau on 1/F., Trade Square, 681 Cheung Sha Wan Road, Kowloon, will also open on 7 October 2004 from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. for datestamping covers with the "Philatelic Bureau" pictorial postmark, the "GPO-1" postmark as well as special postmark on that day.
