Congratulations to the Hong Kong Olympic Team!

Hongkong Post salutes Hong Kong's Olympic athletes with a special stamp issue entitled "Heartwarming Stamps" Mini-pane - Congratulations to the Hong Kong Team on Winning the Silver Medal in the Men's Table Tennis Doubles at the 2004 Olympic Games. We would like to invite you to share in the happiness of the occasion by taking part in the following activities:-

1) Autographing of Souvenir Covers

There are three opportunities on 7 October 2004 for philatelists to obtain our official guests' signatures on their Souvenir Covers of this stamp issue. A quota of 100 will be in effect and an allotment of chips will be distributed at 8:00 a.m. on 7 October 2004 on the G/F, General Post Office. Please refer to the arrangements of the three sessions and their respective conditions as follows:-

Session I
Time:
  • 9:30 a.m.
Location:
  • General Post Office, 1/F, Counter Hall
Attending guests will sign on the spot:
  • Mr. Allan CHIANG, Postmaster General
  • Mr. Timothy FOK, President of Sports Federation and Olympic Committee of Hong Kong, China
Conditions:
  • Each eligible participant can present TWO Souvenir Covers of this stamp issue for guests to sign. Each cover must have at least one valid Hong Kong stamp with postage of HK$1.40 or above.
Eligibility:
  • Bearers of chips No. 1 to 20

Session II
Time:
  • 10:00 a.m.
Location:
  • General Post Office, 1/F, Counter Hall
Attending guests will sign on the spot:
  • Mr. KO Lai-chak, Silver Medallist, 2004 Olympic Men's Table Tennis Doubles
  • Mr. LI CHING, Silver Medallist, 2004 Olympic Men's Table Tennis Doubles
Conditions:
  • Each eligible participant can present ONE Souvenir Cover of this stamp issue for guests to sign. Each cover must have at least one valid Hong Kong stamp with postage of HK$1.40 or above.
Eligibility:
  • Bearers of chips No. 1 to 20
    (Bearers of chips No. 1 to 20 can take part in both sessions I & II.)

Session III
Time:
  • 10:30 a.m.
Location:
  • General Post Office, 1/F, Counter Hall
Attending guests will sign on the spot:
  • NO guest will be in attendance to sign the Souvenir Covers on the spot, but 80 Serviced Souvenir Covers of this stamp issue with signatures of Mr. LI Ching and Mr. KO Lai-chak, Silver Medallists of the 2004 Olympic Men's Table Tennis Doubles, will be available for redemption. These Souvenir Covers will be signed in advance.
Conditions:
  • Each eligible participant can redeem ONE Serviced Souvenir Cover of this stamp issue (affixed with 4 "Heartwarming Stamps" and cancelled with the Special Postmark) with signatures of the two medallists, in accordance with either of the following conditions:-
    1. provide Hongkong Post one Serviced Souvenir Cover of "Congratulations to the Hong Kong Team on Winning the Silver Medal in the Men's Table Tennis Doubles at the 2004 Olympic Games Heartwarming Stamps" (this must be affixed with the 4 "Heartwarming Stamps" of this issue) in return for one signed Souvenir Cover as stated above; or
    2. pay HK$9.10 in cash on the spot
Eligibility:
  • Bearers of chips No. 21 to 100

Hongkong Post reserves the right to cancel or change the above arrangements without prior notice.

2) New Exhibits in the Postal Gallery

n response to increased public interest in the Olympic Games and in the Hong Kong Team's great achievement in Athens in 2004, we will add new exhibits to our Postal Gallery located on the G/F, General Post Office. These will complement the existing "Olympic Games" stamp albums, developed by the China National Postage Stamp Museum. The new exhibits are on loan from Mr. Timothy FOK, President of Sports Federation and Olympic Committee of Hong Kong, China, and will be displayed in the Postal Gallery, from 7 October 2004 (noon) to 28 October 2004.

We also have the honour of exhibiting trophies, pictures and table tennis paddles belonging to Hong Kong's two silver medallists. This display will be held in the Counter Hall, 1/F, General Post Office from 7 October 2004 (noon) to 28 October 2004.
