Stamp sheetlet#

A set of twenty-six units of Alphabet Stamps from A to Z will be issued in a stamp sheetlet format on 4 January 2005 (Tuesday). These lively and innovatively designed Alphabet Stamps score a 'first' for Hongkong Post in using humour through stamps to entertain and educate. The stamps, all of which have a face value of $1.40, are available in two sheetlet formats, i.e. self-adhesive and gummed. You would be amazed that those handy tools such as clothes clamp, scissors, bamboo ladder... etc. can be fused as part of the designs of the 26 "Alphabet Stamps". This ingenious concept comes from Mr. Benny Lau, our stamp designer.

Stamp Printing Details

Whether it is a personal mail or a business one, the "Alphabet Stamps", coming on 4 January 2005, would certainly add a personal touch to your mail. To demonstrate your thoughtfulness with your mail, just compose your special message with the "Alphabet Stamps" which serve more than simply postage stamps. Now, are you interested in turning your mail into a unique one? Think about your name, your company's initial, secret codes between you and someone or special greetings, the "Alphabet Stamps" can do them all well! How about everyday's messages like 'HAPPY BIRTHDAY', 'I MISS YOU', 'I LOVE YOU', 'THANK YOU' and the festive greeting 'KUNG HEI FAT CHOY'? Don't worry, they are all ready on our Datestamped First Day Covers.

To cater your needs on other days, the Souvenir Covers pre-affixed with gummed stamps (do not bear any postmark cancellation) are also available at our 39 Philatelic Offices with a choice of any of the above five messages starting from 5 January 2005. # Due to the special design, the stamps are only sold in stamp sheetlet format.

The stamps will be displayed at the General Post Office, Tsim Sha Tsui Post Office, Tsuen Wan Post Office and Sha Tin Central Post Office from 14 December 2004. Official First Day Cover at HK$2 (large size of 265 x 190 mm) and HK$1 (small size of 220 x 110 mm) each will be put on sale at all post offices on the same day. Advance orders for servicing self-provided souvenir covers will be accepted at all post offices from 14 to 20 December 2004.

Hand-back datestamping service will be provided at all post offices on 4 January 2005 for official and privately-made covers bearing the first day of issue indication and a local address. A special postmark will also be introduced and available for hand-back service at all post offices. The "GPO-1" postmark, "Philatelic Bureau" pictorial postmark and the philatelic office pictorial postmarks will also be available for hand-back datestamping service at 39 philatelic offices on that day.

In addition, the public hall of the Hongkong Post Philatelic Bureau on 1/F., Trade Square, 681 Cheung Sha Wan Road, Kowloon, will also open on 4 January 2005 from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. for datestamping covers with the "Philatelic Bureau" pictorial postmark, the "GPO-1" postmark as well as special postmark on that day.
