Towards Hong Kong's First World Record Stamp Mosaic
In celebration of the 10th Anniversary of the Post Office Trading
Fund, the staff of Hongkong Post and their families have created
this gigantic stamp mosaic for Hong Kong.
Measuring 3.97m (height) x 6.45m (width), the mosaic took almost
a year to complete, with used stamps collected from staff and 98
postal administrations. The initiative demonstrates not only the
team spirit and creativity of Hongkong Post, but also the solidarity
among postal administrations.
The last piece of the mosaic, depicting the General Post Office
with gold-foiled stamps, was fitted to the design jointly by the
Chief Executive, the Honourable Donald Tsang Yam-kuen, GPM and the
Postmaster General, Mr. Allan Chiang, JP, at the celebration reception
on 30 August 2005.
Hongkong Post is attempting to gain an entry for the world's largest
mosaic of used stamps in the Guinness World Records.
