Postage Prepaid Postcard Series No. 13 and No. 14 (Air Mail)
- "2009 East Asian Games"
Hong Kong has won the bid to host the 5th East Asian Games in 2009,
which have been held in Shanghai, China (1993), Pusan, Korea (1997)
and Osaka, Japan (2001) respectively. The coming East Asian Games
will be held in Macao, China on 26 October 2005. To celebrate the
kick-off of this event, a set of 2 postage prepaid postcards will
be issued on 6 November 2005 (Sunday), the date of the closing
ceremony of the 2005 Macao East Asian Games and the handover ceremony
of the 2009 East Asian Games. The postcard set depicts the field
tracks and swimming pool of the major competition venues as the
key design element.
The postcards are designed by Mr. Clement YICK and printed by
the Government Logistics Department. The selling price per set of
two postcards is HK$10. The postcard sets will be available for
sale at General Post Office, Tsim Sha Tsui Post Office and Airport
Post Office (tentative) on 6 November 2005. The sales restriction
per queuing customer is 5 sets.
A special postmark will also be introduced and hand-back datestamping
service will be provided at General Post Office, Tsim Sha Tsui Post
Office and Airport Post Office (tentative) on 6 November 2005 for
datestamping the official postcards and privately-made covers, bearing
the first day of issue indication and a local address.
