To promote philately among students and to increase general interest in stamp collecting, the "7th Inter-School Stamp Exhibits Competition" is organised by Hongkong Post, with support from the Education and Manpower Bureau as the co-organiser. An exhibition of winning entries and other stamp exhibits submitted will be held at the Exhibition Gallery 4-5, Hong Kong Central Library, Causeway Bay, from 12 to 16 April 2006. The admission is free and all are welcome. The opening hours of the Exhibition are:

  • 12 April 2006 (Wednesday) : 12:30 p.m.- 6:00 p.m.
  • 13 to 15 April 2006 (Thursday to Saturday) : 11:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m
  • 16 April 2006 (Sunday) : 11:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.

Apart from displaying the exhibits from participating students, it is Hongkong Post's honour to have Guangdong Philately Association's support for the display of their 21 frames of winning stamp exhibits at the venue. We have also invited Mr SUN HaiPing (Vice-Chairman of Guangdong Philately Association, and Professor of South China University of Technology) to be our guest speaker for a seminar on the first day (12 April) of the Exhibition on thematic stamp exhibits, and the stamps of Republic of China. Chekiang Philately Association will display 18 frames of stamp exhibits in the venue.

The exhibition will provide an interesting and facilitating array of activities which include:

  • Sales booth of philatelic items;
  • Workshops and guided tour;
  • Acceptance of advance orders and new stamps promotion;
  • Exhibition Corner of "Children Stamps Design Competition - Dress Bear Up"
  • Photo Corner of "Children Stamps - Dress Bear Up"
  • Webgame of "Children Stamps - Dress Bear Up" Amusement Park;
  • Broadcasting newly released VCD of "Hong Kong Stamps and Philately".

To commemorate the event, Hongkong Post will issue a souvenir cover and make available a special postmark on 12 April 2006. A commemorative cachet will also be provided between 12 and 16 April 2006. Souvenir covers will be available for sale for $2 each at 39 philatelic offices from 29 March to 12 April 2006. Serviced souvenir covers, at $5.9 each, (affixed with a $1.4 definitive stamp, applied with the cachet and cancelled with the special postmark of 12 April 2006) will be available for sale at 39 Philatelic Offices and the exhibition hall on 12 April 2006.

For sales at the sales booth, customers can redeem 10 cancelled Alphabet Stamps for every purchase of HK$50, together with one cancelled souvenir cover affixed with Heartwarming Stamps imprinted with the 7th Inter-School Stamp Exhibits Competition logo for every purchase of HK$100 at the sales booth of the venue. Both are served on a first-come-first-served basis until stocks last.

Remarks : For 2006 Local Standing Order Service customers who have successfully ordered the "Datestamped Special Souvenir Cover - Other Special Events", please note that the souvenir cover of the "7th Inter-School Stamp Exhibits Competition" will be collected together with the "Mainland Scenery Series No. 5: Mount Taishan" stamp products.
