The 12th Inter-School Stamp Exhibits Competition
(May to November 2012)

Stamp exhibits are developed with stamp products and narratives on a thematic basis.  Hongkong Post introduced the Inter-School Stamp Exhibits Competition in 1999, which has since become an annual event given the enthusiastic response. By participating in the Competition, students get the unique opportunity to expand their knowledge of culture and history as well as to improve their writing and presentation skills. To promote this healthy and educational activity to students, Hongkong Post again organises the 12th Inter-School Stamp Exhibits Competition jointly with the Education Bureau this year. The details are as follows:

Objectives of the Competition

  • To promote philately as an educational pastime among students.
  • To sustain interest in philately among student collectors.
  • To offer young collectors opportunities to produce stamp exhibits and to take part in international competitions.

Entry Qualifications

  • The Competition is open to all primary and secondary students and full-time students of tertiary institutions.
  • The Competition is divided into three classes based on age, with a maximum number of frames set for each class:

    Class A : Aged below 12 (1 to 3 frames)
    Class B : Aged 12 to15 (1 to 5 frames)
    Class C : Aged 16 and above (1 to 5 frames)

  • The maximum number of participants for each entry is four.
  • Each frame submitted should have a capacity of 16 standard size album pages (4 x 4), with a size of 23cm x 29cm as specified.
  • Hongkong Post will sponsor each entry for 20 pieces of standard size album pages and one pack of stamp mounts for each frame.
  • All entries should be submitted on a thematic basis with narratives.

Awards & Prizes

To encourage more students to participate in the Competition, the first 100 who submit their entry forms and entries will receive HK$100 worth of selected stamp products.

A Champion, 1st Runner-up, 2nd Runner-up and ten Merit Awards will be presented under Individual Awards and School Awards for each class with prizes listed below:

Champion:

A trophy, a Serviced First Day Cover and HK$3,000 book coupon
1st Runner-up: A trophy, a Serviced First Day Cover and HK$2,000 book coupon
2nd Runner-up: A trophy, a Serviced First Day Cover and HK$1,000 book coupon
Merit (10 nos.): A certificate, a Serviced First Day Cover and HK$1,000 book coupon

Moreover, each participating student will receive a special stamp presentation pack and a certificate.

Champion:

A trophy and a 2011 Prestige Annual Stamp Album (Deluxe Version)
1st Runner-up: A trophy and a 2011 Prestige Annual Stamp Album (Deluxe Version)
2nd Runner-up: A trophy and a 2011 Prestige Annual Stamp Album (Deluxe Version)
Merit (10 nos.): a 2011 Annual Stamp Pack

The Most Supporting School Award

One school from each class with the highest number of entries submitted will receive a certificate, a 2011 Prestige Annual Stamp Album (Ordinary Version) and a 2011 Annual Stamp Pack. If two or more schools in the same class have the same number of entries, the recipient of the Award will be determined by the number of frames submitted.

The completed entry form should be returned by fax (2530 2618), by email(spd_phm@hkpo.gov.hk)or by mail to the following address on or before 25 May 2012:

Announcement of Results

The results of the competition will be announced in September/October 2012 on Hongkong Post Stamps website (www.hongkongpoststamps.com). Winners will be notified individually by mail.
